Disruptive behavior can have a significant impact on patient safety and ultimately lead to adverse events. This webinar will describe the potential effect that disruptive behavior can have on patients and professional practice. It will also address how to recognize behavior that may be considered disruptive in oneself, peers, and/or staff. Case scenarios will demonstrate various types of disruptive behavior, and effective strategies will be presented to help healthcare providers address and minimize its effects.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify three different types of disruptive behavior.
  2. Describe the potential effect that disruptive behavior can have on patients and professional practice.
  3. Recognize behavior in themselves, peers, and/or staff that might be considered disruptive behavior.
  4. Implement effective strategies to address disruptive behaviors when encountered in the workplace.
