Program Details

The term artificial intelligence (AI) often elicits a vision of the extraterrestrial; however, AI is connected to many of the things we do in everyday life. In simple terms, AI is the use of technology to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence.

AI has the potential to revolutionize healthcare by offering providers more options in diagnosing and treating patients. Although some technological advances have demonstrated improved patient outcomes, AI does not come without problems. Establishing processes to evaluate and implement new technologies is a critical component of managing risks and safeguarding patients.

This program discusses the barriers and drivers associated with AI, explores how AI has affected the healthcare community, looks at potential benefits and risks, and offers key strategies for incorporating this evolving technology into clinical practice.

  3. Describe potential AI-related risks to patients and providers
  4. Understand the legal and ethical concerns related to AI in medical care
  5. Develop prevention strategies designed to decrease risks associated with the use of AI in healthcare
